“petit à petit” is a Kyoto-based textile brand by textile and printing director Masahiro Okuda and illustrator Yuki Nakamura. With Kyoto’s scenery and Parisian-style illustrations as the motif, they express richly colorful worlds.

100th anniversary design message
I have created a design that looks like it was made with masking tape.
Actually, I produce it by adding colors to washi paper.
100ans means 100 years in French.
But to boldly keep a little mystery, and because I am French,I have intentionally written it in the French language.

He was born in France in 1942.
After graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, he moved to New York in 1968. He produced his own artwork while working on many illustrations for American advertisements and editorials.
In 2006, he returned to France.
With deep connections to Japan, in 2000 he held his first private exhibition at the Creation Gallery G8. In 2002, he stayed for 4 months at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, as part of the Artist-in-Residence program run by the Institut Français du Japon.
He has also held private exhibitions in the Gallery A4 (Tokyo) in 2020, and the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum in 2021.
At ATELIER MUJI GINZA, he held a new works painting exhibition in 2021, and held the HANDMADE exhibition in 2022.
From March to April 2023, he held private exhibitions at the Gallery Claska and the Pearl Gallery.
From 2023 to 2024, some of the exhibits from the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum were on display at Maison de la Culture du Japon à Paris.
He also worked on an official art poster for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He is currently active in Paris, and continues to present his works in Europe, America and Japan.

100th anniversary design message
I wanted to celebrate the 100th anniversary of KAMOI KAKOSHI with a design that combines my favorite elements : primary colors yellow, blue, and red plus black (as found in Mondrian’s works), simple geometric shapes such as squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, all elements used by the language of international maritime signal flags.

Born in Paris in 1959, from Dutch musician parents, he studied art on his own. While he mainly focuses on painting, he is also active in a wide range of genres, such as picture books, stage design, posters and advertisements. He has published many picture books, and his book “Enohanashi (Histoire de l’art)” has been translated in Japanese and has won an award at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Concerning advertisements in Japan, he has worked on Christmas ads for Lumine, as well as on ads for the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen. In 2017 he published his first monograph in Japan, titled “Paul Cox: Design & Art” (published by PIE International). Since 2019 he has produced illustrations for “Seeing the invisible,” the website for Amano Enzyme. He has also made animation and wallpaper display illustrations for that company’s exhibit “Fermentation Tourism Exhibition” (from September 17 to December 4, 2022, Kanaz Forest of Creation in Fukui Prefecture). From November 2021 to January 2022, he held a solo show at the Itabashi Art Museum. For 1 year starting from April 2022, he produced monthly posters for the good manners campaign in the Tokyo Metro.
